Fundamental of Computer
What is a computer?
Computer is an electronic device that executes instructions given in a program and controls the operations that are expressible in numerical or logical terms.
Basically, computer has four functions to perform
- accepts data input
- processes data processing
- produces output
- stores the output for further use
Charles Babbage is known as the " father of computer".
What makes a computer powerful?
The power of computer can be judged in the following parameters
Speed: A computer can be billions of actions per second.
Reliability: A computer can be considered as highly reliable as failures are usually due to human error, one way or another.
Storage: A computer can store large amount of data.
Input Devices: Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner
Output Devices: Printer, Monitor
Processing: CPU ( Central Processing Unit)
Types of Computer:
1. Desktop Computer/Personal Computer(PC)/Laptop: It is used by common People
2. Mainframe Computer: Is is used in Banks, Airlines, Railways to handle millions and trillions of online transactions per second.
3. Super Computer: It is fastest computer on Earth.
There are two important part of Computer;
1. Hardware
2. Software
Hardware: Hardware is which we can touch and feel, it is called Hardware.
Hardware Component in Computer:
1. Ram: Ramdom Access Memory
2. Rom: Read only memory
3. CPU: Central Processing unit
4. SSD: Solid State Device
5. HDD: Hard Disk Device
6. SMPS: Switched-mode power supply
7. Motherboard
